In the late 1880's, a young, determined Russian immigrant named Max Levinson arrived in East Baltimore. In 1892, Max opened a funeral home to serve the specific needs of the Jewish community. The first funeral home, located on High Street, combined funeral service with a livery stable.
Keeping pace with the migratory patterns of the local Jewish community, Sol Levinson & Bros. relocated to East Baltimore Street, and in 1937 to a larger facility on North Avenue. |
For 5 Generations
Sol Levinson & Bros. continues to be family owned and operated, with third, fourth, and fifth generations currently active in the business. The Levinson family and their staff of professional Jewish funeral directors take great pride in their service to the community.

| Our current location in Pikesville at 8900 Reisterstown Road opened in 1996. This modern state-of-the-art building is located on six acres, one half mile north of the Baltimore Beltway. This new facility provides a simple, dignified atmosphere designed to comfort grieving families. |
