I am so sorry to hear about Jules. I remember when I was a little girl and my dad took me to the furniture store. Jules gave me a doll that had extremely long legs and I had that doll for a very long time. Most recently, Jules and I had been working together on the family genealogy. He was a great man and will be missed.

I am saddened to learn of Jules's passing. In recent years we were in touch through Facebook and, I often felt, so similar for first cousins who met only a handful of times.

I also noted his striking resemblance to my father, Sylvan Shaivitz.

I will miss him.

Goodbye little brother. We've known each other since our early childhood and were neighbors. I was considered the older brother you never had. The Shaivitz household was my 2nd home and I was always welcome there. Your parents took me everywhere with you as if I were one of the family. I was best man at your wedding. You could not live without your beloved Selma. Joy and I will miss you.

I am just shocked. I met Jules in his art class 9 years ago and took his class until he stepped down "for awhile" ; he'd told me that he hoped he could come back in awhile and we kept in touch with e-mails - my sharing my art and his comments. I can't say how much this gentleman gave me - not only increased confidence with art but how he nudged me to buy Jon Kabat-Zinn's book WHEREVER YOU GO THERE YOU ARE; it was his gentle wisdom and kindness for people I'll remember with his smile.
He was a blessing to many. Take care to family; losing Selma not long ago and now Jules. Take care.

We learned to play bridge with Selma and Jules over 25 years ago. You get to know people at the bridge table when you spend every Monday evening together for 2 or 3 years. We knew Jules as kind, gentle and generous man. Whenever he made a mistake at the bridge table, he invariably said, "I'm just warming up!" You had to love him.
