Another bereaved mother
Jan 3, 2018 06:38 PM

To the bereaved parent,
It does not matter the age of the child who has died to lose a child no matter the child's age, is one of the most terrible experience that parents must endure. The coming weeks and months will be difficult; there will be awful days and days that are less awful As time passes, the pleasant memories will surface and give you comfort. Speak about him to others, share the memories with others.

I've spent the last two days dreaming about our times growing up together, so many fond memories fishing, playing games, and going on vacation together to the beach. I remember the smallest of things like playing Atari in your parents basement, running around the house shooting each other with those suction dart guns, and riding bikes together. You were so intense at times in so many things that communicated to me how you admired life and saw beauty in it. You were a great cousin to me and I will continue to cherish memories of our youth.

John was a courageous fighter, a funny guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He loved and blasted RUSH. John was a SMART car driver and defender when we would make fun of his car. :) Most of all John loved his family including Laura, Ethan, Fergus, and Falafel. John you will be missed greatly but know you are in the arms of a loving God and we will celebrate your life. Peace my brother...

A bereaved mother

You have joined a group that no one wishes to belong to - the group of bereaved parents. We grow larger and larger. You will cry lots but eventually, you will be able to laugh again, even through your tears. You will not "get over" your son's death but you will learn to live with it and to enjoy life again. Remember the happy times. Those memories and your friends, will sustain you.

Having had the opportunity to work with John, I cannot describe the feeling of sadness learning of my friend's passing. May God rest his soul in peace and blanket his family and loved ones with comfort. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.

GOD SPEED.
