Sincerest sympathy to all who knew and loved him...our good friend and sailing buddy. One of a kind, he will be sorely missed.

I have only known Bob for the past 10 years but in that time we became great friends. Our relationship first centered on sailing... first in the Chesapeake then later in Gloucester and Mystic. He was the captain and I was the mate. It was a great arrangement: he provided the boat and the experience while I provided the muscle and we both (would) provided the enthusiasm. A lot of our trips were overnights where we’d moor or berth in a foreign harbor... drink beer, eat either real food at a restaurant or beans on board and talk about manly things. He was a great talker and of course he had great material and in truth many of his stories may have been told more than once: Eagle Scout adventures, Dartmouth escapades, Navy yarns, law school sagas, anti-trust contests, earth quake survival, foreign travels, departed sailing companions and previously owned cars and boats.
Bob and I also shared manly experiences bike riding the rails to trails north of Baltimore. Since walking was no longer a pleasure for him (there was a time he daily walked 8 miles to his office), on bikes we could travel the 10 miles to PA and drink beer in a different state.
The Bob that I knew was a generous, smart and open individual who by my standards had experienced a remarkably adventurous life. I am fortunate to have been able to share a portion of his remarkable life.

I am so so sorry to hear of the passing of Bob. He was just the most wonderful man, friend and mentor. When my father Ted died, he remained a constant loving leader for my mom, brother and I. He was not only incredibly brilliant but so humble and loving.
I just heard the news and am so upset as I will miss him as I miss my Teddy daily. Hopefully, they will be reunited smoking a great cigar and laughing together once again like the best friends they were.
My sincerest condolences to Rachel and all of his Loved ones.

I share in my sister's comments. Bob was a wonderful genuine friend to my family and I especially after we lost our beloved Ted. I will miss hearing all of his stories and adventures. All of my love and prayers go out to the family.
