As I reflect on Mrs. Carton I had to smile because she was a lady of wisdom. She said what she meant and did not back down, A lady who knew what she wanted and pleased herself no matter what some people said about her. She would smile at me but also set me straight when she thought I was wrong. I loved you in life and now in death your suffering is over.Family your aunt was a strong Lady. Farewell Ms. Carton Love Dottie

To all of Selma’s wonderful care takers, nurses, doctors, drivers, accountant, casino workers, family, friends and anyone that helped in any capacity- A Great Big Thank You and so much gratitude to all! Dottie, a special thanks for your kind words. Selma and all her siblings were one of a kind! It is sad to lay to rest the 5th and last of that generation. They were all a force to be reckoned with and always said what they meant and meant what they said. They were leaders, fighters, hard workers, energetic, powerful, super intelligent, strong, stubborn, brave, compulsive, shrewd, opinionated, difficult, misunderstood, witty, humorous, restless and had a zeal for life. Unfortunately, they were raised with an eye for an eye...
Coming from, taking care of, working for, or being a friend of a Holtzman is not an easy task. For those that were touched by Selma, showed her compassion, consolation, mercy and love in her time of need, suffering, and death, I’m truly appreciative of you.
Selma and her brother (my father) always had crazy $5 bets. The final bet was who would be the last to die. Aunt Selma you won!
As we are all in need of forgiveness, I pray your suffering is over and God in all his goodness extends his forgiveness and mercy upon your soul. Through the grace and mercy of the Lord God of Israel and the oath which he swore by Abraham May you Rest In Peace my dear Aunt.
With much love,

Ruth Alper

Selma was an interesting and unique friend. We always talked about the places we visited. Cliff and Selma shared a love of music. In fact, Selma was a student of Cliff's. She took every course that he offered at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). She loved the way Cliff spoke about music. Bridge was always fun and she always tried her best to be a winner. I wish her peace and tranquility. We will miss her.

So sorry to learn about Selma’s passing. I knew her through Bridge & North Oaks. Even played Bridge with her once @ the Baltimore Bridge Club in Pikesville.
She suffered so much in her later years. Now, I hope she is resting in peace & confounding her Bridge opponents in Heaven.
