I have known Jeff for at least 30 years. We worked at a newspaper together back in the day. What a great guy: smart, loaded with integrity, funny, and devoted to his family. Always had a good attitude. This is such a shock. My love to Beth and Seth.

Jeff and I sat next to each other at two different jobs--as reporters at Pax Publishing and as public affairs officers at UMB. What shocking news! I'm so sorry for your loss. Jeff always made me laugh and brought so much joy to those around him. He will be sorely missed. My deepest sympathies to Beth and Seth. May Jeff be surrounded by Love and Light in his transition. You are both in my thoughts and prayers.

Jeff was one of my editors when I worked for The Daily Record. I'll remember him as smart, practical, and kind -- all very welcome attributes when I was a cub (pup) reporter.

My deepest condolences to Beth, Seth, and all of Jeff's loved ones.

I am shocked and saddened and so very sorry to hear about this. I loved meeting up with Jeff on my visits to the DC/Baltimore area, and again when he would visit his alma mater at Grinnell here in Iowa. I always found it amusing that although he's a Cardinals fan, he followed the Browns from St. Louis to Baltimore. My prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

Jeff was such a
Mensch. First knew him as a reporter for The Daily Record. Then I served on the Baltimore Public Relations Council board with him - he was a great President & colleague. But best of all he was a smart, warm, funny, caring friend. My condolences to his family. May His Memory Be Eternal.

Beth and Seth, my deepest sympathies on your loss. It was a privilege to work with Jeff at The Daily Record and I remember his intelligence and skill, his wit, his way of defusing drama, and above all the delight he took in being a husband and becoming a father. May his memory be a blessing.

Dear Beth

My children's chorus all prayed for you this afternoon; just yesterday we listened to the Wisdom of Ben Sira reminding us that "the prayer of the lowly pierces the clouds" and I hope you can find some words of comfort from friends and family at this time. Jeff was always warm and welcoming and eager to address my DPW issues. A good neighbor.

Dear Beth and Seth,
We are so saddened to hear of Jeff's passing. He was such a solid neighbor and great citizen of Baltimore. I will miss his friendly greeting as we take our walks on Newland Road or on the way to the Farmer's market. He was always willing to take a few minutes to exchange pleasantries and community news. I know he worked tirelessly for this city and will be sorely missed by many.

Dearest Beth and Seth,

Shawn and I are devastated by this news. I met Jeff when he came to work for me at PPC, where his talents were obvious and numerous. And his humor -- his wicked humor -- clinched it for me. He had to become our friend as well. We then met you, Beth, and you too became our friend.

(I was always grateful to you Beth for the way you took to our little girl Leah.) We celebrated your wedding and were thrilled when Seth came along.

And although we moved away, I was so happy to stay in touch on line. We have a lot of good memories with you and we will always keep them close.

Our hearts ache for you and Seth and your entire family and to all your close friends as well.

All our love,

Sue DiPietro

Jeff was the such a good guy, dedicated family man, inspiring coworker and one of the best editors I ever had the pleasure of reporting for at The Daily Record. Over the past few years we would cross paths frequently in the streets sharing a few laughs and catching up on life. The world just lost one of its finest and my heart goes out to Beth, Seth and all who knew him best. He will always be what I considered a true friend and he will be missed.

To Beth, Seth and Jeff's family,

It was a great pleasure and honor, really, to work with Jeff at The Daily Record. He was an anchor in the newsroom and a dedicated journalist. I was happy we stayed in touch, which allowed me to follow his career afterward and his family, which was very dear to him. I can only express great sadness at his passing, tempered by the knowledge that he touched so many people. He will be greatly missed. My sincere condolences.

Beth and Seth,
We are heartbroken to hear of Jeff's passing. We had become so used to seeing him at the Waverly Market, smiling, laughing, sharing stories, and being the smart, warm, generous soul he was. Since the Patuxent days, he has been a good friend, encouraging colleague, and fellow city fan, and we shall miss him greatly. Love and peace to you both, and we hope you find much joy in his memory.

Dear Beth and Seth, You are in our thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time of loss. Jeff, your husband and dad, was a true mensch - an extraordinarily kind and caring person, who connected with everyone he met and so generously made time for others. He made Newland Road, and every place he had a presence, that much better. In so many ways, ways that are difficult to put into words, I believe he personally made us better. What a blessing for us to have known Jeff and to have shared some part of our earthly time with him. We will miss him, especially his laughter and his generous and open spirit.

Jeff and I played baseball together for the past decade, about 200 games including one last week. This is just heartbreaking. Jeff was smart, kind, a quietly competitive person, and a wonderful teammate. I real ballplayer. I will miss the games, you making me laugh, and the conversations in the car that always started with baseball, the Cardinals & Brewers, and moved far beyond. He was one of the good guys. Jeff: wherever you are today, I bet there’s a baseball team (“not softball!” as you would say) and you are insisting on catching all nine innings.

William Lowe
Oct 29, 2019 11:28 AM

Jeff and I played together on the Sea Dogs Ponce baseball team for the past 18 years. For almost all of the hundreds and hundreds of innings I pitched, Jeff was the catcher. I rarely ever needed to shake off a sign; Jeff knew what I needed to pitch before I did. His teammates are shocked and grief-stricken by his loss, and we will miss him every Sunday morning for as long as we remain a team. He was not only a trooper behind the plate but embodied what it means to be a great teammate in every respect. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family.

Beth, Seth, and all of Jeff's family---Jeff was a consumate professional who we interviewed many times at WBAL NewsRadio. He also was a mensch. I last saw Jeff this past Saturday at the Mayor's cleanup. I mentioned how I loved to run at Loch Raven and how beautiful it was after all of the rennovation. Jeff mentioned he loved going to Lake Ashburton, and the Ashburton treatment plant mentioning how peaceful It was. I plan on taking a run there soon, and think of Jeff. Beth and Seth, and the rest of the family and DPW family, you ahve my deepest condolences.

Such a good, decent and honest man who was patient and proud of the ways my life changed and grew during our time together. I’m so glad he found the richness of family life and parenthood, and from afar I’ve been so proud of where he’s taken his life. I treasure his time on this earth, and share my deepest sympathies with all who grieve his loss. I will never forget his incredible laugh, and hope that sound lingers in the minds and hearts of his friends and family.

Hello. I previously posted on this page and was so saddened to learn of Jeff's passing. We worked together at the Daily Record in 1999. He was such a nice guy and will be remembered fondly by all. I wasn't sure where to direct this to, but I am cleaning out some old boxes of my newspaper clips and I see a dozen or so editions with front page bylines by Jeff. I would be happy to mail them to you if you would like. Feel free to email me if you would like them: Either way, sending prayers and warm thoughts to your family.
