Leslie, I was shocked to hear about the sudden and untimely passing of your brother Steve. He was such a kind, friendly and gentle man. Every time I saw him at Graul’s seafood department, he would always have an interesting story. He was so excited when he took delivery of his new Subaru and I’m thankful that he got to enjoy his new toy for several months. Your brother was a great guy, loved to kibbutz and will be sorely missed by my husband and myself. May his memories bring you comfort at this difficult time.

Bunny and Leslie: I’m so sorry to hear of your loss of Steve. I remember him from Heather Ridge. May your memories be a blessing.

Leslie-I would see and speak with Steve at the sea food counter at Graul’s two or three times a week, and my wife Leslie would see and speak with him on other days of the week. We would make a point of saying “hi” to him even when we were not purchasing seafood. We enjoyed his company and our conversations, albeit short, about a variety of topics—and, his new orange Subaru Cross-over. We were very saddened to learn of his sudden death. He was a hard worker and a very pleasant guy. We will miss him!!! -Howard Schulman

Steve was one of the most endearing people I ever met. I’ll always remember our Friday night pool game. He was a great player and we enjoyed each other’s company. I look around my office and see the little Knick knacks he gave me and it breaks my heart. He’ll always be one of my best friends. Rest easy buddy.

I was at Grauls today and asked about Steve and learned of his passing. I knew him from Chestnut Ridge and then Grauls. I would see him multiple times a week and always stop to to talk. He was a kind and gentle soul and he will be missed by even those of us who only saw him at the store. I am sorry for your loss but know that he will be remembered with the smile that was his trademark greeting.

I am very sad at the passing of Steve as well as my co- workers and customers. Steve was well liked by everyone. Customers would just brag about his help and assistance. They made extra trips to see him to see if he had another recipe to go with the seafood Graul's was selling. He always had a smile and a uplifting story to tell.Steve definitely left an imprint on all of us.

My heart aches for you every day. What a gift the two of you had, being such close friends & spending so much time together. I believe Your brother’s sweet soul will always be with you, watching over you. You were both so so lucky to have each other. I got to experience seeing the two of you together several times. My Dear Cousin Leslie, Through this very tragic event, and very horrific time, my heart bleeds for you! I send you my deepest, and most sincere Condolences, for the loss of your Brother, and my Cousin Steve!! This is just incredible to me, and I can't imagine the impact upon you! The deep sadness I feel, is quite close to that felt in the loss of Scott! The first thing I think to myself is, how blessed I am to have seen, and spent time with Steve, during my visit in late 2016!! The second thing I think of is, how blessed I am to have seen, and spent time alone with your Mom, during that same time period in 2016! My memory can vividly take me back, to many times in my childhood, spent with Steve! To me, he was always happy and laughing, and I would label him as a "Gentle Ben" kind of guy! He was like your Dad! As I said to you the other day, you and I are orphans, but in me, you are not alone! As long as I am around, you still have family from our side of "familia"! I am here for you, will never forget you, will keep closer touch with you, and any time I am close to your neck of the woods, I will be sure to see you! You are in my thoughts, in my prayers, and upon my heart, certainly in this extremely sad moment! Stay strong, stay well, and know that I love you! I WILL be with you in spirit, as I view the Memorial Service from abroad! The Lord is with you, and may HE Bless You each and every day! I write this to you Les, and send this to you, with much love and sorrow! Your Cousin, Terry

Leslie, Sorry I couldn't attend Steven's funeral in person, but I watched the stream. Although I hadn't seen Steven for many years, all of the descriptions I've read here remind me EXACTLY of the Steven I remember from our youth. So happy to know that you guys remained as close as you were when we were kids.
I wish you strength and peach through your shiva period and in the years to come. You had an incredible family in your parents and an eternity of memories and blessings to savour and help sustain you.
My love to you and feel free to call at any time if you need anything.
