in shock and deep sadness today after hearing about my lifetime friend, mentor and one of the funniest guys I've ever known. Whenever I was able to see Joyce and Barry it was always the biggest lift of joy, love, deep sharing and big laughs.

Here's truth. Every guy in high school was jealous of Barry for being the apple of Joyce Braverman's eye. I was fortunate as Barry's little brother in MuSig, so I double dated and drove with them to every dance. They kissed at every stop light. The love they have, the family they grew is a testament of the heart. Barry had a special place in his heart for so many people and walked his talk, in helping others and giving so freely. He also, to me was one of the funniest guys ever. For those who knew his "Ostrich walk" and wild wit, it made so many of us smile. For me, most of all, whether it was in person or on the phone, it was always his laugh that I enjoyed the most. I will miss that most of all. Barry's laugh.

Debra Joyce , Brad and John: we are so sad to hear this terrible news. Th3 last time I saw Barry he had a big smile on his face even though it was easy to see that he was going through a hard time....but that was Barry always smiling whether it was doing grass drills when he was in basic training or getting married. He always had the same positive outlook through every experience. He will be greatly missed

Few couples are blessed enough to find their life-long soul mate at such a young age. One of the first double dates for a movie at the Uptown (we have no idea what the movie was) was just the beginning for you and Barry roughly 55 years ago. We can only imagine what you are feeling. They say the pain in your heart will lessen over time. Just know that so many people - friends and family - will be there to help ease that pain.

Joyce,

There are no words that will properly explain the love I have for you and your family. You are my family. Nothing good or bad happens that the Bondroff family is not front and center. My entire life has been filled with Barry leading the charge. He was the captain and always knew the right thing to do. Always.
Fortunately, we now have two Bondroff men to carry on the name. Brad and Jonathan will carry the Bondroff name with the same high standards that Barry did.
My heart is broken. My memories of Barry will be filled with his booming voice, endless love, and calming way.

Love,
Danny, Lauren, Izzy, & Meyer Shuman

To Joyce and family,
When I think of Barry I always think of you, Joyce, and when I think of you I always think of Barry.
Our times in junior high, high school and fraternity gave us such a core of strength and a sense of well-being that fostered our growth into adulthood. I know it hurts terribly now, but when you think of all your fond memories of Barry, it will help you get through this difficult time.

I still smile whenever I think of "Barry White Songs". May g-d give you and the rest of your family the strength to endure the difficult time that you are going through and know that Barry isn't suffering any longer. May his name be for a blessing.

May 13, 2018 12:30 AM

Joyce, Brad, Jon and Stanley and family. We all are Bondroff's and there isn't anyone who doesn't bring goodness to the name. Barry especially had such charisma and strength. He suffered for a long time fighting the good fight and being positive and open to treatments. Joyce, we never did get our dinner. I imagine it would be like this: We would pick a place, sit down and immediately Steve and Barry would make each other laugh long, loud and full bellied. That is what life was like with him and you Joyce. Laugter laughter and laughter. Not right now, but soon you will start to remember something he said or did and a smile will come to your face. Then your memories will multiply and you'll find peace that Barry is no longer in pain and suffering. We are so sorry for your loss and our loss.

Joyce, Brad and Jonathan,

Elise and I saddend to learn of Barry’s passing. In many off our conversations over the years Barry shared how proud he was of his family. It was too soon for him to go. Barry was one of the really GREAT gentlemen who you always wanted to spend time with, personally or professionally. He always had solid advice and we admired him for all the help he offered others. He will be missed.

To Barry's Family:
We are clients of Barry's and have known him for years. There are no words to express our sorrow to all of you. We can simply say this: Barry was a mensch in the truest sense of the word. From the moment we met him, we felt his sincerity and deep caring. We always considered him a friend and we know that he felt the same way about us. He spoke so glowingly of his wonderful family and talked about all the fun times spent in the Cayman Islands and elsewhere. It was clear to us that he treasured all of you beyond all else and although we never met you, we feel that we know you too. How lucky you all were to have had him in your lives. Our hearts are breaking for what you must now endure. Know that he touched many lives and may his memory be a blessing always....

May 14, 2018 05:20 PM

Dear Joyce and family, Barry was my one of my first friends ever when we were young kids growing up on the same block on Norfolk Avenue. We rode our tricycles up and down the sidewalk together and went to Miss Carol's Day Camp together. I moved away from Norfolk Ave. when I was six or seven years old and haven't had any contact with Barry since then, but I still have a couple of photos of Barry and some of the other neighborhood kids in them. Judging by all of the condolence messages that were left previously, I missed out on knowing a great guy by losing contact with him. My sincere sympathy, Paul (Butch) Rosenblatt

May 15, 2018 12:17 AM

Dear Joyce,

I can’t begin to tell you how terrible sadden I was when several friends in Balto told me about the loss of this beautiful man. If there was any way that I could have gotten down there in time to attend, I certainly would have. However, I did watch the service on line and was so touched when listening to both your son’s and David’s memories and how much love they all had for their father and friend. I’m sure that everyone who knew Barry had only the most wonderful things to say about him, as well as making a difference in the lives of many. One thing for sure, as you continue to cherish Barry’s memory, please know that he too will live on within so many of our hearts as well.
Thinking of both you and your family during these difficult times.

Joyce,
Anne and I want to express our deepest sympathy on the passing of Barry. We want you to know we share many memories of our years of friendship. Particularly, we remember our Boat trip with Miss Jackie and Joe (Grabush, Lichter and Newman days) that wound up lasting overnight at sea. If you remember, you thru up over the rough waters and fell asleep on a bench and then woke up in dock on the magathy river. Joe had been drinking that day *(a little to much) and couldn't find his way home. Even though scary, looking back, it was a memorable day. In addition, I, personally, remember our Deep Creek lake (memorial day) fishing expeditions with David, Barry, and myself. Boy, what memories. Sorry we were unable to meet you lovely family, and wish you the best and please enjoy those grandchildren and your children. May Barry's memory be NEVER forgotten and live in your hearts forever.

So I decided to print out the page with the contribution list, and printed over 40 pages of personal condolences to you, Joyce, and your beautiful family. With time to spare as the printer clacked away, I noted that Barry's personal memorial page has been viewed 10,645 times: Barry, a friend to many; beloved by all. And so, in Barry's memory, I offer you a song by the Avett Bros."No Hard Feelings". Pour a glass of wine and give it a "google".
