Dear family,
Alleck of blessed memory lived down the street from me on Old Forest Road when I was a rabbi at Beth Tfiloh. We met on a boat in December 1992, and enjoyed a trip to Israel together around 2007...I always enjoyed and respected Alleck and Harriet if blessed memory, little did I know he was from Providence, where I grew up...sending comfort to the entire family at this difficult and emotional time, shalom from Israel.

Alleck, alav hashalom, was a gentleman, a fine and honest lawyer and a true mensch. I had the opportunity to search titles for him many years ago and looked forward to dropping the work off at his office on Redwood Street. Almost every time he made time to speak with me, encourage me in my career as an attorney, and encourage me to join ZOA. May his memory be for a blessing.

Alleck Resnick was a cherished member of Temple Oheb Shalom. He was a giant in the Baltimore Jewish Community as well as in many other communities both here and abroad. His total dedication to projects which he undertook were recognized by so many people who held him in the highest esteem. Our community is certainly diminished by his passing but his memory will forever be for a blessing

Dear Resnick Family, we are deeply saddened to learn of Alleck's passing. He has left a gallant legacy of leadership both here in our community; and most significantly, in working tirelessly on behalf of Israel - assuring her safety and security. I had the honor of working by his side on some of those journeys, and his mentorship remains to me a precious gift. Alleck's name will forever be remembered with dignity, respect, and admiration. Am Yisrael Chai. May you know no more sorrow.
Michael and Tsipi.

Alleck Resnick

Alleck Resnick, of Pikesville, passed away on November 5, 2018 at the age of 96. Mr. Resnick was a distinguished Baltimore lawyer, respected philanthropist and dedicated communal leader in Jewish educational and civic affairs. He was born in Providence, RI in 1922 to Ida and Max Resnick, and he grew up in the Garrison neighborhood of Baltimore.

Mr. Resnick graduated from Forest Park High School and entered McDaniel College, formerly known as Western Maryland College, in 1941. His education was interrupted by service in World War II, during which he was captured on Thanksgiving Day 1944 in Germany. He was held as a prisoner of war in Germany and every year at Thanksgiving dinner he recalled his capture and joked that he thought he was going to be the Thanksgiving turkey. Upon returning to the United States, he resumed his higher education at the College, became Student President, and was named in “Who’s Who in American Colleges.”

Mr. Resnick was National Alumni President of the Western Maryland College and National Alumni Fund Chairman. Appointed to the Board of Trustees, he was a life member of the Board and devoted many hours of his time to the needs and support of McDaniel College. In 1981 he was conferred an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Law by the College.

Mr. Resnick’s leadership includes serving as National President of the Zionist Organization of America, President of the Baltimore Zionist Organization of America, Jewish National Fund, and Israel Bonds. He was a frequent visitor to Israel, having been there more than 36 times.

He and his late wife, Harriet, were married for 71 years and met on a double date as part of opposing couples. Known for his generosity and easygoing personality, the most important things to Mr. Resnick were his wife and family. He also loved playing tennis, was a multi-year club champ, and played well into his 80s. Mr. Resnick also loved going to Western Maryland College football games. Mr. Resnick spent his career in private practice as a real estate attorney. During his career he most enjoyed helping people secure loans, as well as his pro bono work for Hebrew Free Loans.

Mr. Resnick is survived by his beloved children, Ilene (Tom) Rogers, and Lee Resnick (Myron Gelsinger); his cherished grandchildren, Robyn Perlow and Brandon (Dianah) Resnick; and his adored great-grandchildren, Abigail Kaitlyn Resnick, Bradley Alan Resnick, and Emma Margaret Eskenazi. He is predeceased by his parents, Ida and Max Resnick, and son, Neal Resnick.

Services at SOL LEVINSON & BROS., INC., 8900 Reisterstown Road, at Mount Wilson Lane on Friday, November 9, at 3 pm. Interment Oheb Shalom Memorial Park - Berrymans Lane.

Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to The Resnick Lecture, McDaniel College, 2 College Hill, Westminster, MD 21157.
