Dear Ellensue and Family:
Stanley Levinson was a wonderful man, a pillar of the community. I always considered him a friend and admired his work for Save-a-Heart. I pray that the time will not be distant when you will remember him with a smile instead of a tear.

Rabbi David E. Herman Shaarei Tfiloh Congregation
Aug 19, 2019 05:27 PM

Shaarei Tfiloh Congregation deeply mourns the passing of our dear friend Stanley Levinson of blessed memory. "Nanny" would regal us with his great stories of the funeral industry, old time Baltimore,
ice hockey, Rabbis , Cantors and shared with us his Nachas updates. (mostly grandkids). May the family be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem. He was an original. Certainly to be emulated, impossible to copy. Deepest sympathy to the family especially Ellensue and Brian Jeffers.

Dear Ellensue & Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I met Stanley in the lobby of Sol Levinson's; he was recovering from a surgery (Dec 2017), but I thought he was there for the same funeral I was there for. We had a great conversation. He was funny & also gave me great advice. When he told me he was NOT there for a funeral, & who he was, that led to another interesting conversation. That's it, I met him one time, & he left a lasting impression on me. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you and may his memory be forever a blessing.
Love,
Lauren

Stanley Levinson was an honest man, a truly good person, gregarious, and ebullient. We missed him when he went down to Florida, but a part of him always remained in Baltimore, a city whose history he delighted in sharing. He was devoted to his family legacy, very proud of the humanitarian services the Levinson family has provided generations. One could only love and respect him. There was a twinkle in his eyes. A compelling role model, he was caring, sensitive, considerate and empathic, a role model impossible to replicate. He earned the crown of a good name. Through the community he cherished, his goodness lives on. May comfort only come to those who appreciated him, his smiles, warmth and genuine goodness.

I remember one of the first times I came to Levinsons and I was a bit rushed and nervous. Your dad saw me rush by and said hold on, wait a minute, there’s always time to say hello. Ellensue, Matt and extended families , my heartfelt condolences. As a presidential history enthusiast and of JFK in particular, I remember well your Nanny sharing stories as a guest speaker of Sol Levinson's role in the days after 11/22/63 serving the Kennedy family in assisting with transport - he drove some of RFK's family personally if I remember correctly. Since my own grandparents and young father moved from Garrison Blvd to Randallstown on that exact same fateful day, I really enjoyed that talk and speaking with him over the years since. May his memory be for a blessing!

Dear Celia, Jamie, Ellensue and all of the Levinson Family,
Over the years I have (unfortunately, though a fact of life) had many dealings with Levinsons', and with Stanley. Those occasions were often wrought with grief, sadness and despair. Stanley and the Levinson family ALWAYS conducted themselves with extreme tenderness, sensitivity, compassion and professionalism, helping to put myself and family members at ease, often during the most difficult and traumatizing times. Please accept my condolences on the loss of your beloved Stanley...husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Your family has created a legacy unsurpassed and envied by all other communities and have raised the bar for the entire funeral home industry, thanks, in no small part, due to Stanley and his family. I hope the many cherished memories you have along with the many treasured comments shared here will help comfort you during this difficult time and always.

Dear Levinson Family

How very sad to hear of "Nanny's" passing (that's the only name I ever called him). We grew up around Park Circle, he played ball on the streets with the guys who lived around there (my deceased brother being one of them) His mom and my mom were friends and his brother Burt and my brother were friends - we go back a life time ago. Stanley was a great guy then and never lost that gentleness and kindness as he matured. The only time I would see him was at the funeral home and when my mother in law passed away, we would only deal with him (although everyone is thoughtful and nice). Having lost my husband just months ago, I can imagine how you all must feel and I only hope that you will soon get over your grief and remember all the good times. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Levinson Family,
So sorry to hear about your husband, father, and grandfather Stanley. My late parents Chic and Barry Hoffman knew your parents very well. They even attended their wedding. Like everyone else who has written I am so sorry for your loss. Stanley showed such kindness when my mother passed away in 2008. He never knew her real name was Yetta and when he saw my father, sister Ellen Goldwasser, and me at the funeral getting in the car going to the cemetery he ran over hugged my dad and told the driver he was going to drive the limo and he did. Every time I saw him after that I thanked him because it meant a lot for my father that he did that. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May your memories help you through this sad time.

Celia, Jamie, Ellensue and family,

Stanley was larger than life to me. From the days at Bonnie View, I remember his hearty laugh and warm smile that always greeted me. Words cannot express the feelings that I have for this wonderful individual - giving, caring, warm, always a comfort in sad times - the list goes on and on.

When my parents passed on, Stanley called me to not only offer condolences but to share his memories. What I thought would be a short conversation ended up being a trip down memory lane. I, for one, will always remember that and there will never be another Stanley.

My thoughts and prayers are with you - may all the wonderful and loving memories you have sustain you in the days to come.
