I remember Reb Shmuel from Ner Yisroel. The sweetest person. He produced a beautiful and wonderful family of the sweetest children.
Beautiful smile.

I remember when Shmuel came to Ner Israel as a teen- I was a young kid but he and other Spanish speaking boys would always let me play soccer with them. I think I even learned a bit of Spanish.
I always enjoyed seeing him at shul on Shabbat morning when I would be in Baltimore. A nice l'chaim, kugel and smile. He was just a great guy for the 55 years I knew him.

Our family lived next to Shmuel's wonderful family on Glengyle Avenue for a number of years. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He was so proud of his wife and adorable children and no matter how tired he was, he never said no when his children wanted his attention. We're so sorry to learn of his untimely passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.

We remember "Sam" Chernitzky from the old days at Bnai Jacob, when Rabbi Baumgarten A"H was Rav. We remember him for his Nutty Buddies and Ice Pops, and for the wonderful kiddushes he put together in the kitchen downstairs. He was a joyful, gentle, kind soul.
