Tuesday following the funeral the family will be receiving at the home of Mark and Liz Levy, 10629 Pine Haven Terrace, Bethesda, MD 20852 until 2:30 pm. The family will be sitting shiva at the home of Stan and Michele Cohen, 6228 Martin Road, Columbia, MD 21044, Tuesday and Wednesday after 6:30 pm with an evening service at 7:30 pm.

Fran was so pleasant to be with. Such a nice oerson. She had a big heart for animals. Fran will be missed.


 
 

Frances Butter Levy

Frances Butter Levy of Rockville, MD passed away on January 11, 2020 at the age of 81. Mrs. Levy was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and attended Adelphi Academy before going on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. While attending a house party in college she met the love of her life, Lawrence Levy, and they were married on March 26, 1961.

Following college, Frances always enjoyed helping young children develop their intellectual and creative curiosity. She worked for several years as a kindergarten teacher in New York and then, after moving to Maryland, worked as a preschool teacher.

In her spare time Frances enjoyed needlepoint, literature, cooking, theater and reading. She was a member of several book clubs, a theater club, and Hadassah. Frances will be remembered for her love of animals, supporting worthy causes in memory of her late parents, and most importantly the love she had for her children and grandchildren.

Frances was predeceased by her beloved husband of 30 years, Lawrence H. Levy, and her parents, Hyman and Julia Butter. She is survived by her children, Michele (Stanley) Cohen, Elissa (Michael) DeVito, and Mark (Elizabeth) Levy, and grandchildren, Jonathan Cohen, Samantha DeVito, Emily DeVito, Alexa DeVito, Andrew Levy, and Matthew Levy.

Funeral services and interment will be held at Judean Memorial Gardens - Olney MD on Tuesday, January 14, at 10 am.
