Greg King
Executive Funeral Director & Director of Grief Support and Community Education
"One of the most special aspects of my work is that I have the privilege of helping families during such a difficult period of their lives, and hopefully helping them find some light in a very dark time."
In 2009, Greg King joined Sol Levinson as a funeral director, helping families make funeral arrangements and ensuring those arrangements go as desired. Greg is also one of Levinson's Advance Planning Specialists, who guide families in making funeral arrangements ahead of time.
With over 16 years of experience as a licensed funeral director, Greg serves as a cornerstone of our team, combining deep professional expertise with a heartfelt commitment to those we serve. As our Director of Grief Support and Community Education, Greg organizes our bereavement groups, speaker programs, and comprehensive online educational series. With a well-established knowledge of Jewish burial customs, Greg ensures that traditional rituals are honored with the highest level of integrity and care.
Beyond our doors, Greg is instrumental in building vital bridges within the local area, cultivating strategic partnerships with local hospices and nonprofit organizations to enhance the continuity of care for families navigating loss. His dedication to community welfare is demonstrated through leadership of our annual donation drive, an initiative he spearheads to provide essential support to neighbors in need. Through a unique blend of educational programming and community advocacy, Greg helps to ensure that our funeral home remains a proactive resource for comfort and connection.
Greg is a Pikesville native whose family has been in Baltimore for five generations. As a graduate of Boston University, Greg attained his degree in education, working as a high school teacher, then he owned a Baltimore-area vending machine business for several years.
When not at work, Greg has many hobbies such as playing piano, crafting homemade cheeses, farming organic produce, playing tennis and pickleball, and fishing. Greg and his family are multi-generational members of Chizuk Amuno Congregation. He sits on the Boards of Directors of the Jewish Cemetery Association, the Stevenson Ridge Halcyon Association, and Gilchrist Hospice Care, where he is also the Chair of Gilchrist's Jewish Care and Support Advisory Committee. Greg's many interests keep his wife, Rebecca, entertained and provide endless teaching opportunities for his two daughters.
