"Sometimes it's the little things that go a long way. I can help these people who are going through a terrible time right now, and it's one less thing they have to worry about. It may not be much for me, but for them, it can mean a lot."
Gregory Johnson joined Sol Levinson in 2014 and currently serves as Assistant Operations Manager and Funeral Assistant. He began his career with the company as a Funeral Assistant and Evening Administrator and, through dedication and leadership, has grown into his current role. Greg is responsible for helping each day run as smoothly as possible by assigning daily tasks to Funeral Assistants and Morticians and stepping in wherever there is a need. He is committed to maintaining high standards throughout the building and ensuring that families experience a seamless and respectful service.
Greg was inspired to work in the funeral profession by the opportunity to help people during what may be the hardest time in their lives. He finds the most meaning in the appreciation expressed by the families he serves. Before joining Sol Levinson, Greg worked at Northwest Hospital for 16 years, where he advanced from patient transportation to Patient Access Supervisor. His background in healthcare strengthened his focus on compassion, organization, and personal care, and reinforced his belief in treating everyone the way he would want to be treated.
A lifelong Baltimore native, Greg has deep roots in the community and is very close with his three older sisters. He is also a devoted father to his two children, Ethan and Katelynn, who mean the world to him. Outside of work, he enjoys outdoor activities such as football and kickball, helping his father with home repairs, and reading. A fan of the Atlanta Falcons who also cheers for the Ravens, Greg describes himself as a “big kid at heart.” Whether spending time with family or supporting his team, he brings the same energy, heart, and commitment to his personal life that he does to his work each day.
