Obituary

Arnold Pazornik, of Columbia, MD, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the age of 94. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 71 years, Marilyn Pazornik (nee Amernick); by his loving children, Richard Pazornik (Bradley Walker), Stacy (Tim) Gorin, and Ivye Pazornik; cherished grandchildren, Stephanie (Yon) Berezin, Melissa Pazornik, Danielle Gorin (Zack Roth), and Madeline Gorin (Dustin Dahan); adored great-grandchildren; Charlotte Berezin, Henry Gorin-Roth, and Charlie Gorin-Roth; and by many loving nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by his dear brother, Sheldon Pazornik; by his adored sister-in-law, Celeste Pushkin; and by his devoted parents, Sylvia and Morris Pazornik; and stepmother, Sophie Pazornik.

Arnold was raised in Baltimore City and educated in its proud institutions, graduating from Baltimore City College before continuing to the University of Maryland, College Park, and later earning his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. His early years were shaped by a strong sense of purpose and responsibility, which he carried into his service as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force JAG Corps, a role that reflected both his intellect and his steady moral compass.

After his military service, Arnold's career unfolded alongside some of the most defining moments in American history. As a contract administrator with NASA during the Gemini and Apollo programs, he played a quiet but meaningful role in humanity's reach beyond Earth. He was later presented with a flag that had traveled to the moon, a symbol not only of that extraordinary chapter, but of the pride he took in contributing to something larger than himself. He went on to build a long and respected career with ARINC Research in Annapolis, where his leadership and thoughtfulness earned him the admiration of colleagues and friends until his retirement in 1998.

In the rhythm of everyday life, Arnold found his greatest joys. He was an avid tennis player well into his 80s, approached a card game with both skill and humor, and was rarely without a good book (especially one grounded in history). He followed sports with quiet devotion, particularly his beloved Maryland Terrapins. Above all, he was a man deeply rooted in family - steadfast, loving, and present. His life was defined not only by what he accomplished, but by the care he gave, the values he lived by, and the enduring partnership he shared with Marilyn, built over years of mutual respect, warmth, and unwavering love.

Services will be held at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 11:00 am.
