Obituary
Bernard Weiner
1928 – 2025
Bernard “Bernie” Weiner, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 97.
Bernie was the devoted husband of the late Estelle Weiner (née Steinberg) and the late Toby Weiner (née Resnick), and the beloved father of Alan (Debbie) Weiner, Frank (Linda) Weiner, and the late Debbie Schwartz. He was the cherished father-in-law of Larry Schwartz.
He will be lovingly remembered by his adoring grandchildren—Michael (Jen) Schwartz, Kevin (Lori) Schwartz, Joshua (Alex) Weiner, Zachary (Arielle) Weiner, Adam (Heather) Weiner, and Evan (Holly) Weiner—and his precious great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Andrew, Jordan, Reid, and Brady. Bernie was predeceased by his devoted parents, Mary and Abraham Weiner.
Bernie lived a long and full life, marked by kindness, humor, and a deep love for his family and friends. He had a gift for making everyone around him smile, and his warmth and joy were felt by all who knew him. Bernie especially loved to dance—something that always brought light to those around him.
Bernie shared his kindness and joy far and wide. For many years, he volunteered at Levindale Nursing Home, where he was affectionately known as “The Candy Man” for always bringing treats and smiles to the residents. During his time living at Ringhouse Independent Living, his love of music and dance inspired a weekly tradition - “Dancing with Bernie,” where his joy and energy brought people together and lifted spirits.
Even during COVID, when residents couldn’t gather in person, Bernie’s dancing was in such demand that they filmed his sessions and broadcast them on the community TV so everyone could join in from their rooms. His genuine warmth and generosity touched everyone he met - he treated all with kindness, laughter, and his signature phrase: “It’s my pleasure, baby.”
He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know and love him, and his spirit of joy, kindness, and fun will continue to live on in all those whose lives he touched
