Obituary

David Bruce Solow, beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents Henrietta and Nathan Solow and brother, Norman Solow..

David was born in Brooklyn, NY and was a fan of Mickey Mantle growing up. He later lived in Cherry Hill, NJ before moving to Baltimore in 1962. David attended Pimlico Junior High School, City College in 10th grade, and was part of the 1st graduating class at Northwestern High School. He was a good student and was in the National Honor Society. He was a natural and gifted athlete and lettered in three sports. He quarterbacked the junior varsity team to the championship and started both years in football. He earned varsity letters both years in basketball. He taught himself how to play lacrosse and earned second team All City as a senior.

David attended Western Maryland College for three semesters before attending a University of Maryland basketball game and falling in love with Maryland basketball. He transferred to College Park where he later earned a degree. He was a member of the ZBT fraternity and participated in hijinks which cannot be discussed here.

David was a quiet guy, but his many friendships lasted fifty to sixty years. He attended Maryland Football and Basketball games and musical concerts with his brother and many friends. He was a sweet and gentle guy and would always want to know how you and your family were. When his mother and brother were living, they would always be included with his friends for shabbat dinners, religious holidays, all bar mitzvahs and weddings, and even Sabatinos dinners with the boys. When David became ill and was fighting off the effects of the chemotherapy, all of his friends pitched in and did whatever they could to help. He beat the cancer, and remained optimistic till the end. All of his friends were honored to be David’s friend and wish that there was more that we could have done. In the movie It’s a Wonderful Life, it says “each man’s life touches many other lives. When he isn’t around, it leaves an awful hole”.

Services at Wellwood Beth Moses Cemetery, 1400 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11735, on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at 1:00 pm. Please omit flowers.
