Obituary
Esther Ruth Horwitz Drager, beloved daughter of the late, Sadie and Arthur L. Horwitz, wife of the late Daniel Drager, cherished mother of Arthur L. Drager, and grandmother of the adored Danielle Drager. Survived by nieces Maddy Blumberg, Susan Drager, Zelda Margolis and nephew Paul Drager. As well as devoted cousins, Janie Howard Hanky, Paul Alan Howard, Darren Server, Bradley Server, Andrea Server Bell, Maxine Cohen, Howard Cohen and Jack Cohen. Also by the late lifelong friend, Deborah Blank, as well as dear friends Janice Crawford and Maria Swift.
She was born on September 29, 1924. It was also the first day of Rosh Hashanah. She always liked to celebrate both dates for her birthday. When she was younger, her mother always made two chocolate cakes to celebrate. One for each day. We continued this tradition with our family as it meant so much to her.
She was a life member of Cancer Research Life Chapter of Hadassah for which she was proud to make her son and granddaughter life members as well. She worked with her husband in their business from 1956 through 1985. She took an interest in helping her mother and her aunt after her father passed away on December 15, 1946. She enjoyed knitting and gardening as time permitted. She attended Shaarei Zion Hebrew school and took pride in the fact that Rabbi Tayback taught her, married her parents, married her, and conducted the bar mitzvah of her son. Above all, her greatest joy was the birth of her granddaughter, Danielle, and loved partaking in each milestone as she her grew to be a fantastic young lady.
The services will be held at Sol Levinson Chapel 8900 Reisterstown Rd., Pikesville, MD 21208 on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 1 PM. It will be followed by her interment at Jewish War Veterans cemetery Maryland Free State post number 167 in Rosedale. Omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Hadassah, Baltimore Hebrew Congregation or the Totem Pole Playhouse in Chambersburg Pennsylvania. The family will be mourning at 2461 Forest Green Rd., Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday at 5:30pm.
