Obituary
Harriet Rae Mandell-Olson (née Buchman), of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at the age of 77, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Harriet is survived by her beloved daughters, Kimberly (Marty) Brandwin and Dana (Jason) Stoogenke; her cherished grandchildren, Chloe Brandwin, Maddie Brandwin, Miranda Stoogenke, and Owen Stoogenke; and many dear friends and extended family who will miss her deeply.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and Jack Buchman, and her husband, Robert "Bob" Olson.
Harriet lived with a passion for life, a quick sense of humor, and a beauty that radiated from within. She devoted 32 years to the University of Maryland Department of Family Medicine, where she served as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Practice Manager, touching the lives of colleagues, patients, and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
In her later years, Harriet found deep meaning in volunteering with Loaves & Fishes and the Urban Ministry Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, giving generously of her time each week to serve those experiencing homelessness. This work was a true reflection of her compassion and her lifelong commitment to others.
She will be remembered not only for her professional legacy, but for the warmth, kindness, and grace she brought to every room she entered.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
