Jay Barth Salomon passed away at his home in Belvedere, MD on Friday, August 7th, 2026.
Jay was born in Havre de Grace, MD on July 9th, 1940, Jay had a colorful childhood. He attended camp as a youth during the summer where he excelled in swimming. He lived in several locations along the East Coast, including Philadelphia. A strong student, Jay went to UPenn and later took graduate classes at Harvard University. Professionally, Jay taught at the college level; he started his own advertising agency and spent three years embedded with the Maryland Police as a journalist - one of his proudest life chapters and an experience that lent itself to a treasure trove of stories he loved to tell.
Jay was affable, well-traveled, an excellent listener, could converse on any topic, and often rivaled the contestants' abilities on Jeopardy. He was an avid fan of Opera and Horse Racing and was a spectator for both many times during his life. Jay loved food and would walk the extra mile for juicy peaches, a fresh lobster roll, or a rare steak.
In his later years, he spent several weeks a year up in New England with friends in MA or on Lake Winnipesaukee in NH.
Jay's energy, personality, stories, and contagious laugh will be sorely missed.
Jay is survived by his friends Bob and Paula Davison in MD, and his friends Bryson, Heidi, Oliver and Yvette Lang and the Ousler family in MA.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ivan and Sadie Salomon. Services at Baltimore Hebrew Belair Road Cemetery, 2100 Belair Road, Baltimore, MD 21213, on Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
