Obituary
Jeffrey Rockman, 77, of Lutherville, Maryland, passed away on January 6, 2026.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sonja Rockman; his son, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Rockman; his brother, Steven (Deborah) Rockman; his beloved granddaughters, Jordyn Rockman and Dylan Rockman; and his nieces, Toni Rockman and Lauren Rockman.
Jeffrey was born on August 16, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York to Alexander and Estelle Rockman. Jeffrey's maternal grandparents, Max and Pauline Karper, were also a steady presence in his early life.
Later, Jeffrey attended SUNY Binghamton, where he met Sonja, his partner in life and love. In time, they made their home in Maryland, where Jeffrey earned his law degree from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Jeffrey began his legal career at an established law firm before later co-founding his own boutique labor law firm, Serotte, Rockman & Wescott, in Towson. He was a loyal, dedicated, and principled friend, often described as a mensch, and he carried those qualities into every part of his life.
Jeffrey was known for his distinctly New York Jewish sense of humor, which could be described as dry and understated. He had a gift for the perfectly timed remark and an expression that could say plenty without saying much at all. He also greatly enjoyed travel, and he was able to take many trips in his later years. He loved the beach and warm weather, in particular when those could be shared with his son and granddaughters. Jeffrey also was a great fan of films, and was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of classic films and television series.
Jeffrey left a large mark on the Baltimore legal community, his friends, and especially his family. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at 12:00 pm. Interment is private. Please omit flowers. Contributions in his memory may be sent to the charity of your choice. The family welcomes everyone to the Rockman residence, 11679 St. Davids Lane, Lutherville, MD 21093, immediately following the service.
