Obituary

Judith May Schwartz of Towson, Maryland, passed away on Monday, November 10th at the age of 86.

A dedicated educator and former principal of the Baltimore County school system, Judy’s impact on her students and community were immeasurable. Judy’s 40 year career began as a teacher at Hebbville Elementary School in 1961. She worked her way up to Assistant Principal at Winands Elementary in 1976, Principal at Milbrook Elementary in 1983, and Principal at Lutherville Elementary in 1992, where she served for 9 years. Judy had a special knack for making learning fun, and her love for the Baltimore Orioles was infectious. She often took her students to games, sharing her passion for baseball with the next generation.

Beyond her career, Judy had a deep love for travel. Her adventures took her across the globe, including China, Russia and throughout Europe. She was known for her unique and extensive collections of travel t-shirts and boutique shopping bags, each one a memory of a journey. A very sharp dresser, Judy truly had a style of her own. Judy was an active member of the Beth El Congregation Sisterhood.

Judy was predeceased by her siblings, Gordon Schwartz and Harriet Reed. She is survived by her niece, Barbara (Tom) Finn; her nephews, Craig (Carmen) Schwartz and Howard Schwartz; and her sister-in-law, Linda Schwartz.

Services will be held at Baltimore Hebrew Cemetery-Berrymans Ln., Reisterstown, MD, on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Please omit flowers. Contributions in her memory may be sent to Beth El Congregation, 8101 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21208. The family will be in mourning at the home of Craig and Carmen Schwartz, 1207 Berans Road, Owings Mills, Maryland 21117, immediately following interment, until 5pm.
