Obituary
Mark Allen Nusinov, of Pikesville, MD, passed away suddenly on Saturday, September 26th, 2026, at the age of 81. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Nusinov (nee Schaffer); his adored children, Craig (Andrea) Nusinov, Randy Nusinov (Krysten Cornwell), and Gary Nusinov; his dear siblings, Cara Nusinov Leibowitz and Elysa Nusinov Lipman (William Wunderlich); his adoring mother, Sylvia Nusinov; precious grandchildren, Sophie and Ella Nusinov; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his loving father, Sam Nusinov.
Mark was a third-generation lifelong expert jeweler. He started at age 15, sweeping the floors at his grandfather’s fine jewelry store on Baltimore Street, Charles Nusinov and Sons. He learned the many facets of the business and initiated a successful store catalog in the 1970s.
He started his own business in 1981, Mark Nusinov Jewelers. He was a knowledgeable craftsman, who took the time to listen to his thousands of customers to create beautiful and meaningful jewelry. As he always said, “If you don’t know your jewelry, know your jeweler.” Many of his customers became lifelong friends.
At his store, he worked side by side with his wife Marlene, and eventually his son, Craig. He semi-retired from the industry in 2006 and joined J. Brown Jewelers until 2022. During his retirement he continued to help his friends and customers.
His greatest joys in life were his parents, his wife Marlene, his three sons, Craig, Randy, and Gary, and his two granddaughters Sophie and Ella. Mark and Marlene were married for 58 years, having met when they were 22 and 17, respectively. Mark was extremely loyal to his friends and to his last day was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Integrity, honesty, loyalty and trust were more than words to Mark. He lived each day in accordance with these values.
