Mark D. Coplin, of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, July 13th, 2025, at the age of 96. Born December 1, 1928, Mark was a devoted husband, accomplished attorney, and committed community leader. He graduated from Baltimore City College in 1945, where he served as an editor of the high school newspaper. He went on to earn his B.A. in English from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 1949, where he was an editor of The Diamondback and a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. In 1953, he graduated second in his class from the University of Maryland Law School and achieved the highest score on the Maryland Bar Examination. During law school, he served on the Editorial Board of the Maryland Law Review.
After clerking for Judge Morris A. Soper of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Mark joined the prominent law firm Weinberg & Green (later merged with Saul Ewing), where he practiced business law for 48 years, ultimately retiring as a partner in 2001. Deeply devoted to his community, Mark held leadership roles with several organizations, including serving as president of the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society and the Baltimore Jewish Council, as well as board roles with Jewish Family and Children’s Service and Baltimore Hebrew College.
