Obituary
Mark Gilbert Feikin, of Towson, MD, passed away on April 1, 2026, at the age of 92. Mark was born on September 16, 1933 in Baltimore and grew up in the Druid Hill Park neighborhood. He graduated from Baltimore City College high school (1951), Franklin and Marshall College (1955) and University of Maryland Law School (1958). He had a varied professional life, working as a lawyer (with his father), financial advisor (The Becker Corporation), Security Exchange Commissioner of Maryland, member of the Board of Directors Yorkridge-Calvert Savings and Loan, and independent businessman.
Mark was a social person and liked to “go out” – on drives in the country in his first Chevrolet with girlfriend (and later wife) Rhea and his grandmother Carp in the 1950s, to the famous warehouse parties at the Becker Corporation in the 1970s, to dinner at a rotation of favorite restaurants with “the boys” (almost every night) in his last few decades. In nice weather, he could be spotted riding around town with his top-down in one of his many convertibles. His happy place was by the water -- soaking up the rays with a transistor radio on his lap by the swimming pool, on the beach in Ocean City with his kids then later grandkids, catch-and-release fishing in ponds around Frederick, or on friends’ boats on the Bay and environs. Most importantly though, Mark was an unwaveringly devoted and loving father and grandfather.
Mark was predeceased by his parents, Bernard B. Feikin and Jeannette (Carp) Feikin, as well as his sister Francia Feikin. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Feikin and Mary Hamel, and his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Feikin and Troy Ballard; and his grandchildren, Benjamin and Yala Feikin.
A celebration of life gathering for Mark will be planned for a later date. Please make contributions in his name to The Chesapeake Bay Foundation. To plant trees in his memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
