Obituary

Marsha Nan Cohen (née Epstein), a lifelong Baltimorean, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the age of 84. Born to Sarah and Louis Epstein, she was one of three sisters, alongside Phyllis Belman and the late Gloria Lessing.

In 1965, Marsha was one of only six women to graduate from the University of Maryland School of Law. She built a career as an attorney at the Social Security Administration while caring for her husband, Steven, through his illness and raising their children, Lisa and Marc —setting a powerful example of strength and dedication for her children and grandchildren.

A devoted sports fan, Marsha delighted in cheering for the Orioles and Ravens and took great joy in sharing that enthusiasm with her family. Her five grandchildren—Brett, Erica, Jacob, Sydney, and Emma—brought her endless nachas (joy) and pride.

Marsha is survived by her loving children, Lisa Roberts (David Irwin) and Marc (Michelle) Cohen; her devoted sister, Phyllis (P. Dennis) Belman; and her cherished grandchildren, Brett (Brielle) Roberts, Erica Roberts, Jacob Cohen, Sydney Cohen, and Emma Cohen. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steven Cohen; her dear sister, Gloria Lessing; and her loving parents, Sarah and Louis Epstein.

Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and strength.
