Obituary

Martin "Marty" Zuckerman, of Owings Mills, Maryland, passed away on Saturday, September 5th, 2026, at the age of 97. He is survived by his loving children, Susan Pearl and Carol Zuckerman (Barry Goldstein); cherished grandchildren, Jeffrey (Teresa) Pearl, Matthew (Breanne) Pearl, Benjamin Goldstein, and Alexa Goldstein (Isabelle Sheck); and adored great-grandchildren, Avery Pearl, Harrison Pearl, Winston Pearl, Spencer Pearl, and Wesley Pearl. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Dolores Zuckerman; dear brother, Stanley Zuckerman; and devoted parents, Max and Elizabeth Zuckerman.

Marty was born in the Bronx, NY in 1929 to Hungarian immigrants. After his early years in NY during the Great Depression, his father found work in Baltimore and the family moved there. Marty attended the Baltimore City schools and was a proud 1947 graduate of Baltimore City College. He attended and graduated from the University of Maryland College Park, where he was a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity, and where he met his wife of nearly 66 years, Dolores. After enrolling in ROTC while in college, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and served on active duty stateside and in Goose Bay, Labrador during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the Army, he joined the family’s scrap metal business, Max Zuckerman & Sons, and continued in the scrap metal business until his retirement in 1997.

Marty was a devoted member of Chizuk Amuno Congregation since 1953 and a strong supporter of Israel. He was an avid Baltimore Colts, Orioles, and later Ravens fan; a longstanding Baltimore Symphony subscriber; and always enjoyed trying to improve his golf game. He prided himself on his faith, his generosity to others, his many friendships, and most of all his family – especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who were an enormous source of joy for him in his later years.
