Obituary

Michael “Rick” Eric Balter passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31st, 2026 after a short illness. Rick was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose warmth, generosity, and genuine love for his family touched everyone fortunate enough to know him . He was born July 8th, 1951 in Passaic, NJ. He celebrated his 75th birthday the day before entering the hospital in Ft. Myers, FL, where he was surrounded by family.

Rick grew up in Clifton, NJ, graduating from Clifton High School in 1969. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Business Management. He dedicated more than 35 years of his professional life to Tinsley Advertising in Miami, FL, where he served as Vice President of Production before becoming Chief Operating Officer, a position he held for more than 14 years. His dedication, leadership, and friendships throughout his career were an important part of his life.

While Rick was proud of his career and valued his many friendships, what he cherished most was his family. Some of his happiest days were spent on the baseball field with his sons, Max and Alex. Those moments—and the love and memories created with his family—were among the greatest joys of his life.

Rick is survived by his two beloved sons, Maxwell Balter and Alexander Balter; his cherished daughter-in-law, Grace Specht Balter; and his adored grandson, Brooks Balter. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Shelli (Henry) Balter Rossman and Traci (Walter) Tyo; his nephew, Hart (Melissa) Rossman; his nieces, Mikaela (Nicholas) Clark, Noa Tyo, and Shea Tyo; his grandnieces, Sierra, Jaiden, and Ayla Rossman and Felicity Clark; and his grandnephews, Falon and Finnegan Clark.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Maxwell Balter and Natalie Landau Balter.

Above all, Rick treasured his family and the relationships he built throughout his life. He will be remembered for the love he gave to those closest to him, the pride he took in his family, and the friendships that remained an important part of his life.
