Obituary

Morris "Moe" Rosen passed away on January 27, 2026 at the age of 91.

Moe was married to his beloved wife, Henriette "Honey" Rosen, for 62 years. Honey passed in 2020, and their family bonds remained a defining thread in the life Moe built, steady, devoted, and deep.

A glance into Moe's family room told an essential truth: tennis was not just a pastime, it was part of how he loved. His shelves were lined with trophies, earned across years of play and persistence. He taught members of his family to play, organized a close circle of friends for routine games, and remained actively on the court until only a few months ago. In the way he returned to the game again and again, curious, competitive, joyful, Moe showed what it meant to stay engaged with life.

Incredibly smart and relentlessly driven by learning, Moe earned his bachelor's degree from Hofstra before attending Harvard, where he received a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics. He started his career in the private sector before joining the intelligence community in the federal government, bringing his intellect and rigor to work of lasting significance. Even beyond his profession, he was a lifelong learner, always taking classes, always expanding his understanding. Fifteen years ago, he began taking a special interest in artificial intelligence, studying it with the same seriousness and excitement that shaped everything he pursued.

A dedicated participant in Potomac Community Village, Honey and Moe attended lunches, cultural and social events, and Moe drove seniors to appointments. Sometimes his riders were years younger than he was.

Moe also loved bridge, playing socially with Honey and competitively with a partner, finding in the game the same blend of strategy, connection, and disciplined thinking that he valued so highly.

He is survived by his children: Nathan (Doris) Rosen, Sharon Rosen Walsh (Martin Lubin), and Beth Rosen (Larry Miller); and by his grandchildren: Marielle Rosen (Stephen) Emet, Alyssa (Sylvester) Chifamba, Samuel Rosen, Daniel Rosen (partner Ari Knott), Zachary (Tamar) Rosen, Brina Rosen (fiancé William Cirone), Nicholas Walsh, Benjamin Walsh (Rebecca Duffin), Cara Walsh, Steven Miller (Onur Oztemir), and Lilly Miller. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Aviva Emet, Levi Emet, Jayden Chifamba, Jacinda Chifamba, Jowanda Chifamba, Juniper Chifamba, and Theo Walsh.

Moe was predeceased by his wife, Henriette "Honey" Rosen; his sister, Leah Jaffe; and his parents, Nathan Harry and Miriam Rosen.

A service will be held at Congregation Har Shalom, 11510 Falls Rd, Potomac, MD 20854 on Friday, January 30 at 9:30am. Interment will follow at Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd, Olney, MD 20832. Contributions in his memory may be sent to Har Shalom Congregation, Potomac, MD; Gilchrist Center Howard County; The American Cancer Society; Potomac Community Village.
