Polina Cherkansky

Polina Cherkansky (nee Akshteyn), of Owings Mills, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, April 16th, 2026, at the age of 88. She is survived by her beloved husband, Mikhail Cherkansky; children, Alexandr (Larisa) Cherkansky, and Irina Reznikov (Lonnie Davidson); her grandchildren, Lucy (Kirill), Eugin (Katya), Zarina, and Alison; and her great grandchildren, Sophie, Gabby, Emma, Zoe, and Liv. She was predeceased by her loving siblings and parents.

Polina lived a life rooted in love, kindness, and devotion to her family. She was incredibly warm and loving, always laughing, cooking, and surrounding her family and friends with a joy that made everyone feel cared for and at home. She shared a beautiful 66-year marriage with the love of her life, setting an example of commitment and partnership that will stay with her family for generations. She had a rare gift for bringing people together, creating connection and closeness wherever she went. She will be remembered always, and her memory will continue to unite her family just as she always did.

Services at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208, on Sunday, April 19th, 2026, at 10:30 am. Interment Baltimore Hebrew Berrymans Lane Cemetery. Please omit flowers.
