Obituary

Rebecca Lee Roberts of Sykesville, Maryland, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the age of 69. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Norma Roberts.

Rebecca lived a life filled with movement, curiosity, and connection. She traveled extensively throughout her life, embracing opportunities to experience new places and cultures—sometimes by land, sometimes by sea, including a handful of memorable cruises.

Her love of activity defined much of her journey. She completed numerous 5K and 10K races and proudly crossed the finish line of three half-marathons. Over the years, she also took up biking and swimming, always eager to push herself and stay in motion. She shared the road—quite literally—with her husband, Sidney Spunt, as they spent cherished time riding their motorcycles together.

At home, Rebecca was a devoted reader and a lifelong dog lover. The friendships she formed with a group of fellow dog owners during regular meetups at Liberty Reservoir became a treasured part of her life. Even after their dogs had passed, the women continued to meet—bound together by shared love, memory, and friendship.

Her guiding words, “Do something you love, just move!!”, were more than a motto—they were how she chose to live: with energy, intention, and heart.

She is survived by her husband, Sidney Spunt; her brother, Jerry Roberts and his wife Pam; and her sister-in-law, Gail Garner.

A service will be held at Sol Levinson's Chapel, 8900 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, MD 21208 on Monday, June 30th at 10:30 am. Interment to follow at Baltimore Hebrew Berrymans Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department, 12535 Old Frederick Rd, Sykesville, MD 21784. The family will be in mourning at 616 Blankner Road, Sykesville, MD 21784, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with evening services at 7 pm.
