Obituary
Richard David Hanauer of Owings Mills passed away on Thursday, October 1st, 2026 at the age of 83. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Marcia Roseman; his beloved children, David Hanauer, Craig (Teddi) Roseman, and Andrew (Emily) Hanauer; his cherished grandchildren, Shara, Maisie, and Ethan Roseman and his dear brother, Bill Hanauer (Alan Stahl).
Richard is also survived by his loving sister-in-law, Ellen (Robert) Rosen; and their loving children and families: Josh (Meredith) Rosen, Rachel (Evan) Goldstein, and Adam (Liz) Rosen; as well as caring family & friends around the country.
Richard was pre-deceased by his dear parents Ethel and Milton Hanauer and his dear in-laws Bunny and Mike Roseman.
Richard grew up in New York City and was stationed at Edgewood Arsenal, MD in the mid-sixties. He returned to NYC to earn a master’s degree in Public Health Administration from Columbia University. He then returned to MD and launched a 40 year career as a dedicated nursing home administrator, passionate about providing excellent care for all people. His steady, thoughtful leadership throughout his career garnered him recognition from his national and state associations as well as from hundreds of patients, family members, and employees.
Richard will be remembered as a kind, generous, open-minded man with a “quirky Richard/Dad “ sense of humor. His interests were wide and varied, including stamp collecting, travel, all things nature, and Dixieland jazz.
But his priority was his love of Family and his Best job ever was as “Poppy”. He will be missed by many.
