Obituary
Sandra “Sandee” Lever passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on September 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. At 91, she faced her recent diagnosis of cancer with the same strength, positivity, courage, and clarity that characterized her life.
Sandee was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 63 years, Barry Lever, who passed away in February 2019. Sandee leaves behind her children, Scott Lever (Shelley Hendler), Beth (Brett) Gold, and Jonathan (Laura) Lever; her sister and brother-in-law, Bonny and David Walker; her grandchildren, Arielle Lever (Andrew Eisen), Sara Lever, Ian Lever (Emily Allen), Sam Lever, Sophie Lever, and Caroline Lever; and her great-grandchildren, Makai and Lila Eisen. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Phyllis Horowitz. Sandee was also deeply loved by her nieces and nephews, Adena and Jon Goldberg, Shana Walker, Brad and Rachel Beaver, and Shari Stein, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, Joelle, Zach, and Eli Rosen; Ben, Noah, Dani, and Jonah Goldberg; and her cherished great-nieces in Michigan. She also left behind her loving shih tzu companion of 13 years, Sochi.
Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Rose Levin, Sandee moved to Baltimore in the 1960s and quickly became an integral part of the Pikesville community. She devoted much of her life to early childhood education and became a beloved and influential figure in Jewish education, touching the lives of thousands of children and their families.
She believed deeply in making a difference in the lives of others and remained engaged with her community throughout her life.
Family was the center of Sandee's world. She embraced her role as family matriarch with pride, offering generations of family members her guidance, wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering positivity.
Sandee was a strong supporter of Israel and deeply connected to her Jewish faith in her own quiet and spiritual way.
Sandee was a vital force in the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her smiling face, optimistic outlook, beautiful white hair, and famously cool multicolored glasses reflected a personality that was impossible to miss. Her small stature could never contain her enormous heart or her energetic, generous, and indomitable spirit.
Contributions in Sandee’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice that promotes humanitarian, Jewish, and Israeli values and interfaith cooperation and understanding.
