Obituary

Sara "Suzie" Segelman, formerly of Coconut Creek, Florida, passed away at Hebrew Home of Greater Washington on November 23, 2025, the day of her 101st birthday. Suzie is survived by her loving daughters, Sheila Leven and Michelle Imberman, son-in-law Scott Imberman and grandchildren Allyson Taylor (nee Leven), Geoffrey Leven, Matthew Aronson and Zachary Aronson, as well as 8 great-grandchildren, Gregory, Hudson, Ethan, Jacob, Peighton, Eli, Oliver and Mickey. She is predeceased by her beloved husband Eli Segelman and loving son-in-law Arnold Leven.

Suzie, along with her beloved parents and two sisters, survived the atrocities of the Holocaust. They were taken from their home in Belgium to a Vichy labor camp in France. After escaping, they assumed Catholic identities in Belgium until the end of the war. During the celebrations of Victory in Europe Day in 1945, she encountered a handsome Jewish American soldier from Boston, who would become her husband of over 60 years. Together, Suzie and Eli created a legendary story of love and devotion and were admired by all who were lucky enough to know them.

Services to be held at Star of David Memorial Gardens in North Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, November 28th at 11:45 am. Zoom link available. Contributions in her memory may be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.
