Obituary

Stanley Levin, formerly of Owings Mill, MD, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025 at the age of 91. Stan is survived by loving and devoted family members, sons Robert (George), David (Becky), beloved grandson Reese and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his cherished wife Isabel of almost 68 years, and by his parents Annie and Harry Levin and siblings Evelyn Gibian, Lester Levin and Rosalie Siegel.

Stan lived a life grounded in love, service and unwavering dedication to family. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he carried a quiet generosity throughout his life and instilled in others the value of selfless service. Midwestern values of hard work and enduring faith served him well and his strength, sincerity and grace inspired others.

Stan graduated with honors from Ohio State University where he served as president of the Phi Sigma Delta fraternity. He then went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Social Work there. It was at OSU where he met Isabel, the love of his life, and they began a partnership that lasted nearly seven decades.

Stan’s career in community engagement and teaching spanned 4 states and a variety of social service organizations and universities, including the Community Chest in Ohio, Michigan State University, University of Maryland and Goodwill Industries. His longest, most impactful position for almost twenty-nine years was with the Social Security Administration.

Stan’s drive to contribute toward the betterment of society was evident in both his professional and personal life. For many years, he held leadership positions in B’nai B’rith. He volunteered with American Field Service and the Boy Scouts of America as an Eagle Scout alumnus. Stan and Isabel were members of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation for many years, where he was a longstanding member of the Brotherhood and served in other capacities, most notably the Social Action Committee. In retirement, Stan and Isabel volunteered together at the National Aquarium and the Baltimore Visitor’s Center, eagerly promoting their adopted Charm City which they proudly called home.

Stan interests and hobbies included theater, writing, magic and maintaining correspondence with family members and friends. With pride, he passed his love of tennis onto his son David. Stan and Isabel enjoyed traveling the world and making a lifetime of memories all while documenting their journeys. Their travels included a Hadassah Family Mission to Israel, an awesome “journey of a lifetime” shared with son Rob.

Services will be held Thursday, December 4th, at 10:30 A.M. at Sol Levinsons, 8900 Reisterstown Rd. in Pikesville. Interment will follow at Baltimore Hebrew Berryman’s Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in Stan’s memory can be made to B’nai B’rith International (www.bnaibrith.org /donate) and Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake (www.goodwillches.org).
